Private beta is open by invitation for Apple Silicon Mac users who want local dictation in everyday text fields. Testers get a private download link and a short setup guide.
Accepted testers receive a private download link by email. Please do not post private download links publicly.
These steps are written for normal Mac users. If anything feels unclear, that feedback helps make the public release better.
Click the private download link you received by email. When the download finishes, open the downloaded file named something like Liptyper-1.0.0.dmg.
A small window should open. Drag the Liptyper icon into the Applications folder. If your Mac asks for your Mac password, that can be normal.
Open your Applications folder and double-click Liptyper. If macOS says it was downloaded from the internet, click Open.
Liptyper needs permission to hear your microphone and paste text where your cursor is. Follow the setup screens. If a System Settings window opens, turn Liptyper on there, then return to Liptyper.
The first launch downloads a local speech model. This can take a while. Leave the Mac awake until it finishes.
Open Notes or TextEdit, click in a blank note, press Control + Shift + Space, say one sentence, then press the same keys again. The text should appear where your cursor was.
If you get stuck, do not spend a long time fighting it. Send a short email saying where you stopped. A screenshot is helpful but not required. The most useful feedback is the moment where you thought, "I do not know what to click next."
