Liptyper is made by INITIATOR LLC. This policy covers the Mac app and this website. The short version: the app has no account, no telemetry, and no cloud transcription, and we cannot see anything you dictate.

What Liptyper sends over the network

The first time you run Liptyper it downloads the speech and cleanup models from Hugging Face, a public model host. That download is a normal HTTPS request for public files; it does not carry your audio, your text, or an account identifier. After the models are on your Mac, dictation works with the network off.

Once a day, Liptyper asks the download server for the latest version number. Liptyper adds no audio, text, app version, machine details, locale, or identifier to that request. You can turn this check off in Settings.

That request reaches our download host the way any web request reaches any server, so it carries your IP address and the time you asked. We do not collect, store, or analyse that. Our host is Cloudflare, which serves this website too, and it handles the request as infrastructure; the tools that would let us keep a record of who asked are not part of our plan and are not turned on.

Liptyper also writes a plain-text log on your Mac, at ~/Library/Logs/liptyper-app.log, to record what the app did: permissions, timings, and the microphone in use. It does not contain what you dictated. It stays on your Mac unless you copy a diagnostic report and email it to us yourself.

There is no analytics SDK, crash reporter, or license check.

Speech and text

Recording, transcription, and cleanup all run on your Mac using the downloaded models. Your audio is never uploaded — not to us, not to a transcription service, not to a model provider. Audio is held in memory for the length of a dictation and is not written to disk.

What is stored on your Mac

Liptyper keeps its files in ~/Library/Application Support/Liptyper/: your settings, your vocabulary corrections, and, if you leave it on, your transcription history. These files belong to you. Nothing in that folder is synced or transmitted anywhere by Liptyper.

History is optional

Transcription history saves recent dictations locally so you can find one and paste it again. You can turn it off in Settings, and you can erase it with "Clear all history" in Settings or in the History window. Turning history off stops new entries; it does not delete what was already saved, so use the clear button if you want the file emptied.

macOS permissions and why

• Microphone — to hear you. Without it, macOS hands the app silence.
• Accessibility — to notice your dictation shortcut anywhere on the system, and to read just enough context around your cursor to decide about a leading space or comma.
• Automation (System Events) — to trigger Paste in the app you are typing in.

These are used for dictation and nothing else. Liptyper does not read your screen, log your keystrokes, or inspect documents you have not dictated into.

No account, no profile

There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. We do not have a database of Liptyper users, so there is nothing about your dictation for us to lose, sell, or hand over.

If you email support

Support runs on ordinary email at [email protected]. We see whatever you choose to send: your message, your email address, and any diagnostics you attach. The diagnostic report the app can copy for you contains app status and permission checks, not your transcripts. Please do not send private transcripts unless you want them read. Support email is kept while it is useful for support and then deleted.

Website and checkout

This site is static and sets no tracking cookies. Purchases are handled by Gumroad, which is the merchant of record and processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. We receive the order record for the sale. Neither Gumroad nor we can reach anything on your Mac.

GDPR and similar laws

Because the app processes nothing on our side, the only personal data INITIATOR LLC holds about a customer is a purchase record and any support email you send. You can ask for a copy of that, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it. Write to [email protected]. Deleting a purchase record may remove proof of your license, so keep your receipt.

Children

Liptyper is a productivity tool for general audiences and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Substantive changes will be described on this page rather than quietly edited in.
